Acer Iconia B1 Tablet Set to Arrive in Developing Countries

The coming 2013 is shaping to become the year of the ultra-budget tablets. The Wall Street Journal, citing a source who has “direct knowledge” on the matter, reports that the upcoming Acer Iconia B1 tablet will be priced at “around $99.” The final shelf price, meanwhile, will be determined on a country-to-country basis.
The 7-inch tablet is slated to sport similar specs as older versions of the Kindle Fire and Nook Color, including a 1024 x 600 screen resolution and a 1.2GHz processor.
Acer is set to launch the Iconia B1 in developing markets first. No word whether it will land in the United States, even though the device has been submitted to the country’s Federal Communications Commission for clearance.
